Elena Matzaridou is a maritime professional with over 15 years of experience, based in Piraeus. She combines in-depth maritime expertise with advanced digital strategy skills, specializing in integrating emerging technologies into digital ship management.
Drawing on her extensive background in IT transformation and digital strategy implementation, Elena helps companies and startups navigate the complexities of digital transformation. She excels in embedding digital strategies into comprehensive business plans, crafting tailored market entry strategies, optimizing vendor relationships and technology procurement processes, and ensuring the successful deployment of IT solutions.
A regular speaker at international forums on digitalization and decarbonization, Elena also holds leadership roles in global maritime organizations. As Vice-Chair of the International Regulations Commission at World Sailing, she represents the organization at the International Maritime Organization (IMO). She is an active member of AMMITEC, the Association of Maritime Managers in Information and Communication Technology, and WISTA, Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association, representing WISTA Hellas on WISTA International’s Yachting Committee.
Elena is a passionate long-distance sailor. Her recent voyages include an east-to-west transatlantic crossing from the Canary Islands (Lanzarote) the Caribbean (St. Maarten, a 1,200-nautical-mile journey from Athens to Genoa and a 750-nautical-mile sailing race from Huelva, Spain, to La Gomera, Canary Islands.
Elena holds a Diploma in Naval and Marine Technology and Science with a specialization in Maritime Transportation, from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). She also earned a Master’s degree in International and Comparative Education (MAEd) from the University of Brighton (UK). Committed to lifelong learning, Elena recently completed an Executive Education program on Public Policy Analysis at the London School of Economics (LSE), enhancing her expertise in policymaking, IT governance, and compliance.
